May at Charlestown Land Trust

Dear CLT Supporters and Friends,

May has arrived in full bloom, and here at CLT we’re feeling energized by the warmer weather and signs of spring. Last month, we celebrated Earth Day with a community cleanup—thanks to our incredible volunteers who removed 408 pounds of trash from Ninigret Park and the surrounding areas. We also hosted a fascinating presentation on Charlestown’s land use history with Pam Lyons of the Charlestown Historical Society. Thank you to everyone who came out to these events, and to everyone who gave generously during our 401Gives campaign. Your support makes all the difference in our mission to preserve and protect Charlestown’s unique and treasured landscapes.

Behind the scenes, our all-volunteer Board continues to care for nearly 700 acres of conserved land across Charlestown. From property visits to water quality monitoring, their commitment helps keep these landscapes healthy. Our Stewardship Committee is even working on a brand-new trail system at one of our fee-owned properties—stay tuned for more details and its opening!

We also have some exciting programs on the horizon, including a guided walk at one of our newest conservation easement properties and a special bird-watching paddle with a local conservation biologist. We’ll be adding additional events to the calendar soon, so please stay tuned—we’d love for you to join us!
