July at Charlestown Land Trust

Dear CLT Supporters and Friends,

July is here, and there’s nothing quite like summertime in Charlestown. Whether you’re spending time on the beach, walking through the woods, or kayaking through the salt marshes, it’s easy to appreciate why these landscapes matter—and why conserving them is so important for the people, plants, and wildlife that depend on them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our June events! Our early morning bird-watching paddle was a beautiful way to start the day—and we spotted an incredible 37 species! A big thank-you to Paul Miller for guiding us and sharing his deep knowledge of local birdlife and coastal habitats. We also had a great turnout for our guided trail walk at Mill Pond Preserve, where we celebrated the win of “Thistle” as the official 2025 #RIWalksChallenge mascot.

We’re also glad to see many of you at the Charlestown Farmers’ Market! You can find us there Fridays from 9am to 1pm at the General Stanton Inn—stop by our table to say hello and learn more about our work. Tickets are now available for our summer raffle: a handcrafted wooden diorama created by Brian O’Connor (see more information below!).

And of course, we’re counting down the days to our Annual Summer Party, the event of the season! It’s not too late to get your tickets and join us on Thursday, July 17th at 6pm at The Nordic for a truly memorable evening in support of local conservation. You’ll enjoy a delicious raw bar followed by a main course, live music, a silent auction, and great company—all set against a gorgeous summer backdrop.

Finally, a big thank-you to our dedicated all-volunteer Board, who continue their hard work stewarding conserved lands, supporting conservation projects, and helping to protect what makes Charlestown so special. We’re deeply grateful for their time, care, and commitment. And thank you for being park of this work too—your support makes everything we do possible. We’re so lucky to have such a strong, engaged community behind us!
