Join CLT in our mission to preserve Charlestown’s open space and natural character for the lasting benefit of our community. The land trust preserves and protects the distinctive character of our local area through acquisition and management of open space.
As June begins, we’re so excited to once again be surrounded by greenery as the landscape fills out! And we’re looking forward to the beloved summer months here in Charlestown—a time to appreciate the landscapes that make this place so unique.
Thank you to everyone who joined us last month for a guided walk at Amos Greene Farm. It was a beautiful spring morning to explore one of our newest conservation easement properties, and we’re so grateful to the landowners for opening up their historic farm to the community. A heartfelt thank you as well to Back Rhode Flower Farm for donating perennial plants for the event, with 100% of the proceeds supporting CLT’s conservation work.
Our all-volunteer Board continues to care for nearly 700 acres of conserved land across Charlestown—monitoring properties and water quality, maintaining trails, and doing all that they can to ensure that these ecological resources are protected for generations to come.
Whether you join us at an event or take a quiet moment to appreciate the beauty around you, thank you for being part of this work. We’re so grateful for your support and commitment to conservation.
We’re especially excited about what’s ahead in the coming months. We’ll be hosting an early morning bird-watching paddle around the conserved properties on Ninigret Pond, guided by a local conservation biologist. Later in June, come find our table on opening day of the Charlestown Farmers’ Market, or join us for a guided trail walk at Mill Pond Preserve to celebrate Thistle—the 2025 mascot of the #RIWalksChallenge. And of course, we’re counting down the days to our Annual Summer Party, the event of the season! Tickets are now on sale—we hope you’ll join us!

Opening Day at the Charlestown Farmers’ Market!
Join us at the newly named Charlestown Farmers’ Market, now held at the historic General Stanton Inn, just across the street from last year’s location! Opening day is Friday, June 20th. From then through August 25th, the market will be open Fridays from 9am to 1pm, featuring the same welcoming atmosphere and beloved vendors, from veggies and shellfish to flowers, honey, and baked goods.
The Charlestown Land Trust is pleased to support the General Stanton Inn as they take on market management, and we plan to be there each week at our CLT table. Supporting local agriculture and protecting working farmland are important parts of CLT’s mission—so stop by, say hello, and take home something grown or made right here in our community!
Guided Trail Walk at Mill Pond Preserve
Join the Charlestown Land Trust and the Rhode Island Land Trust Council for a special guided walk at Mill Pond Preserve to celebrate Thistle—the winning creature of the 2025 #RIWalksChallenge mascot contest! Hidden along 34 trails across Rhode Island are one-of-a-kind steel sculptures inspired by nature. These “creatures” are part of the #RIWalksChallenge, and Thistle, located at Mill Pond, was voted the community’s favorite!
🎟️ Free and open to all, but space is limited—sign up here to reserve your spot! (If weather conditions require cancellation, registered participants will be notified by email.)
