Join CLT in our mission to preserve Charlestown’s open space and natural character for the lasting benefit of our community. The land trust preserves and protects the distinctive character of our local area through acquisition and management of open space.
Fall has officially arrived in Charlestown, and we kicked off the season with some great events. In September, we enjoyed a lovely mindfulness walk in the woods led by CLT Stewardship Committee Chair Lisa McGinley and welcomed a great group of supporters who came out to “Craft for a Cause” at our Shell Decoupage Class with CLT President Jane Burns. We also unveiled our newly designed kiosk sign at Mill Pond Preserve (pictured above), designed by Board member Amy Hecht. Thank you to our wonderful and dedicated stewardship volunteers, led by CLT Secretary Kent Kreutler, for their work installing and painting the kiosk frame. Make sure to stop by the preserve for a visit to check it out!
Looking ahead, we’re excited for our Annual Meeting on October 14th at 5:30pm at the Quonochontaug Grange, featuring keynote speaker Sara Michaud from the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association. We also can’t wait to welcome everyone to Mill Pond Preserve for our S’mores Social on October 17th at 3:30pm! We’ll enjoy a guided walk along the trails before gathering around the fire for s’mores and conversation. Both events are free and open to all, so we hope you’ll join us! More details are below, and stay tuned for additional events coming soon.
Finally, we’re gearing up for our Holiday Bazaar Fundraising Auction, taking place December 3rd–7th. Have an item or experience that you or your business would like to donate? We’d love to feature you as an auction donor or event sponsor. Please contact us at clt@charlestownlandtrust.org to learn more!
We hope you’ll join us at one of our upcoming events or simply spend some time exploring Charlestown’s beautiful protected places this fall. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for being part of this work.
With gratitude,
All of us here at CLT
