Join CLT in our mission to preserve Charlestown’s open space and natural character for the lasting benefit of our community. The land trust preserves and protects the distinctive character of our local area through acquisition and management of open space.
Summer in Charlestown is special. From our coastal ponds and beaches to our forests and farms, this time of year offers so many opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beautiful open spaces that make our community what it is.
It’s been a busy summer at CLT! In July, we explored Amos Greene Farm on a guided walk featuring historical tidbits from the Charlestown Historical Society, as well as welcoming a record number of guests to our Annual Summer Party at The Nordic. Behind the scenes, our dedicated Board and volunteers continue caring for CLT’s protected properties while working to protect even more open space in Charlestown.
And there’s plenty more ahead! We’re excited for the start of #LandTrustDays, a statewide, two-month celebration featuring opportunities to get outside and experience the special places protected by Rhode Island’s land trusts. Here in Charlestown, join us for our Early Morning Bird-Watching Paddle on Ninigret Pond or slow down and reconnect with nature during our Quiet Mindfulness Walk in the Woods. Keep reading below for details and information on how to sign up for both events.
Stay tuned—we’ll be adding even more to the calendar, from our ever-popular S’mores Social to guided hikes and more. We hope to see you soon at an upcoming event or out on the trails! In the meantime, thank you for being part of this work.
With gratitude,
All of us here at CLT
